The i30 wagon has been around for a while now, so Hyundai has a few surprises in store for the 2018 model, or so we’ve heard. In any event, we are looking at improved performance, a new design as well as lots of equipment for the interior. But first things first. Release Date: We can expect to see the 2018 Hyundai i30 wagon by the end of next year. Price: The price tag starts at $17,000 and can go as high as $29,000.
2018 Hyundai i30 Wagon Exterior
From the outside, the 2018 Hyundai i30 Wagon is just as mysterious as it was last year and the year before that. In other words, spy shots have only given us a glimpse at what is going to be the new i30.
There are rumors surrounding its new hexagonal grille, which should be a lot bigger than it used to be. The headlamps have also been redesigned and are now more slender than ever. The same goes for the front and rear bumpers, not to mention the hood.
With a couple of extra inches to the old wheelbase, the i30 is certainly going to offer more comfort for the occupants.
Since the air intakes are larger this time around and the contours are a lot more sleek, the performance should also be enhanced in some way. The ground clearance seems to be lower as well, so you might not want to stray too far from the road.
Interior
Sadly, we have absolutely no info on how the 2018 Hyundai i30 is going to look like on the inside. This does not mean that we have no ideas, though.
A stylish interior is to be expected, along with a better-looking dashboard and some cool gadgets on the side. For instance, a new navigation system, an HD radio and climate control are a good start.
Along with appropriate badges and logos, the i30 should see a number of other features including optional leather upholstery, aluminum instead of plastics (also optional) and there should be lots of additional cabin space because of the increased dimensions of the wheelbase. This should be felt the most at leg and shoulder level.
Engine of Hyundai i30 Wagon
Even though we do not know for sure what kind of engine will find its way under the hood of a 2018 Hyundai i30 Wagon, this does not stop us from speculating on the matter.
For starters, there should be a 2.0 L four-banger with 173 hp and there are even rumors that it could exceed 200 hp in this generation or the next.
To say this model is not built for power would be an understatement. Still, what little power it can muster is diverted by a 6-speed manual transmission, and there are even rumors about an automatic down the road.
The acceleration should be pretty decent, though, as the i30 should be able to hit 60 mph in less than 7 seconds but how it plans to do this with less than 200 hp is anyone’s guess.
