There is not much to say about the 2019 Mercedes-AMG A40 at this time. Mostly because it is still at a concept stage, but also because even people over at Mercedes aren’t sure what they want it to be. For now, most of what we know comes from concept art and rumors, so keep this in mind as you read the rest.
2019 Mercedes-AMG A40 Release Date
The release date is not even being contemplated for the time being. All in all, you should be lucky if you catch a glimpse of one of these monsters in late 2018 or early to mid 2019.
Price
Considering this car is still far from constructed, it is hard to say what three years of financial speculation and development will do to its price.
Considering that most comparable cars start at roughly $120,000 it should not be surprised if the price of the A40 reaches as high as $140,000 or $150,000.
Mercedes-AMG A40 Exterior
On the outside, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG A40 has written a lot of checks it may not necessarily be able to cash three years from now.
The appearance has the aggressiveness and the stylishness all right, but all the design of a race car may not be able to cover all the expenses.
Of course, the lightweight materials and the overall body line have all been geared up towards speed and handling, so it should come as no surprise that most of its body is build out of carbon fiber and other light materials.
The grille is a call to the earlier glory days and is reminiscent of all race cars in the 1950’s, albeit with a lot more aerodynamic elements now.
Interior
Since this is still very much a concept, it is hard to guess what the A40 is going to look like three years from now. Still, it should have a racy vibe to it.
The sport seats with real Nappa leather and Dinamica microfiber are going to be a must.
Since this car is built for speed, the construction needs to be as light as possible, so as all that design effort that went into the aerodynamics does not go to waste.
Apart from new color options and trims that will undoubtedly become available over time, there should also be plenty of gadgets that are primarily aimed at enhancing your track performance.
Engine of Mercedes-AMG A40
Needless to say, the 2019 Mercedes AMG A40 is going to feature quite a bit of improvement on the old 4.0 L V-8. The rumors have it they plan to install new turbochargers and a modified compressor.
The extra pressure is going to bring the power output to at least 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This is going to be a serious improvement over the existing model.
As for the 0-60 mph dash, we can expect the 2019 Mercedes AMG A40 to make it in 3.5 seconds or less, probably thanks to that 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Top speed should be able to reach 200 mph.
